Solid hardwood flooring is nailed to a sub floor and is available in different types of wood species, both unfinished or prefinished. Unfinished hardwood flooring must be sanded and stained after installation, prefinished hardwood flooring is sold ready to install and is already sanded, stained, or finished. For both unfinished and prefinished flooring, customers can choose from a wide range of styles, sizes and colors.
Any wood width over 4″ will need to be glued & nailed down.
Engineered Hardwood Floors/Bamboo/Cork Floors are made up of a hardwood surface glued on a plywood sub-floor. Engineered hardwood flooring was originally designed for installation in areas with fluctuating humidity levels and heat, such as homes with radiant heating and installations on a concrete slab or in basements. Engineered Hardwood Floors can also be installed on a sub-floor like sold hardwood. Engineered flooring is glued to the sub floor or concrete slab, or it is floated on a concrete slab or sub floor with a moisture barrier and underlay.
Laminate Flooring is made up of laminated planks that look like wood and have a plastic polymer coating. Laminate flooring looks like real wood, comes in wide planks, and is an economical flooring solution to real hardwood.
